Reflections on WordPress
“WordPress Poetry” is where my love for Emily Dickinson, nature, and WordPress intersect. Inspired by Dickinson’s unique style—full of metaphors, dashes, and unconventional capitalization—I transform my WordPress and life experiences into ramblings and reflections. Though I strive to capture the essence, I realize I am not a professional poet. So bear with me….

About me
A little introduction about me (Manuela van Prooijen): I started working with WordPress through my company Weblish back in 2011 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. These days, you can find me running remote training sessions from a wooden gypsy wagon at the foot of the Serra da Estrela mountains in Portugal. I live with Marcel in Rio Torto with five chickens (Frodo, Saruman, Eddy, Sammy, and The Return of Aragorn), a dog named Jannie, and a cat named Triss. The forest and vegetable garden provide the perfect backdrop for a mix of physical work, creativity, and tranquility, and they serve as the inspiration for many of my poems.
My poems might have quirks and imperfections—after all, I’m not at all a professional poet, just an amateur. And English isn’t my first language—but that’s part of the charm. Through “WordPress Poetry,” I aim to share the mix of technical, business and personal challenges, with creativity, giving you a glimpse into my “WordPress world”.
Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson’s poetry has been a vibrant source of inspiration for me since I ‘discovered’ her in 1989. Her unique style, filled with dashes, unconventional capitalization, and vivid metaphors, is simply captivating. Dickinson had an incredible sense of humor and a knack for finding beauty in the simplest of things, a skill I deeply admire. Her keen observations of nature and the human experience inspire me to look at my own work through a poetic lens. Inspired by Dickinson’s distinctive voice, I turn my daily WordPress escapades into poetic ramblings. Each click, scroll, and line of code holds a story, and like Dickinson, I find joy in uncovering the poetry within the everyday.
